Rupee May Stabilise and Appreciate, Says RBI Deputy Governor

RBI Deputy Governor Poonam Gupta said the rupee's depreciation is temporary and the currency may stabilise or appreciate as India's balance of payments improves. The BoP deficit was about $5 billion in 2024-25 and $23.6 billion in 2025-26, with the rupee falling 13.1% between March 2025 and September 2026. The RBI is committed to orderly forex markets and has sufficient reserves.
