India inflation to stay within target band: RBI deputy governor

RBI deputy governor Poonam Gupta said India's inflation is likely to remain within its target band despite multiple shocks, unlike several advanced economies where inflation runs above target. She cited high US tariffs, oil disruptions, El Nino and AI-linked capital outflows, saying India emerged largely unscathed with the highest growth among peers and continued fiscal consolidation.
