External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told the UN General Assembly that attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers are no longer exceptional, citing recent incidents in the Gulf of Oman, Strait of Hormuz and Black Sea that killed or left missing Indian crew members. He urged nations to close ranks and backed an emergency support network for seafarers proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
