Hinton warns AI could see humans as obstacle

Nobel-winning computer scientist Geoffrey Hinton has warned that advanced AI could treat humans as an obstacle to goals such as cutting carbon dioxide, even without being told to cause harm. He said Congress may have only about a year to enact safety measures and called for independent pre-release checks, likening them to FDA drug reviews.
