Somali Army Battles Local Forces for Control of Baidoa

Intense clashes erupted in Baidoa on Monday between Somalia's national army and fighters loyal to ousted South West State president Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen. The army said it inflicted heavy casualties and drove the fighters out. At least three people, including a healthcare worker, were killed, and 69 wounded were treated at Bay Regional Hospital. Roads to hospitals were blocked, leaving many wounded unable to access care.
