Chennai fishermen protest new Secretariat-Assembly complex

Fishermen from Ennore to Kovalam staged protests at Pattinapakkam on Tuesday against Tamil Nadu's Rs 1,200-crore Secretariat-Assembly complex, citing displacement and loss of traditional fishing grounds. Hundreds gathered at Srinivasapuram Beach and held black flag processions, demanding the government rescind its September 8 order approving 25.55 acres for the project. Over 200 police were deployed.
