US President Donald Trump and executives from OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, Google and Nvidia agreed to a voluntary AI safety framework after a White House meeting on Wednesday. The Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities calls for internal safety controls and independent audits, but is not legally binding. Trump also backed data centre expansion and said he is considering a 10-member AI safety board.
