Tennessee Suspends Executions After Botched Lethal Injection

Tennessee's governor suspended all executions and ordered an independent inquiry after Christa Pike survived two doses of pentobarbital during a lethal injection attempt. Witnesses said Pike, 50, was still awake and snoring about 40 minutes after the drugs were administered. She was taken to an off-site medical facility; her condition was unknown. Pike was convicted of a 1994 murder.
