Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, 24X National Exchange and Cboe EDGX plan to add an overnight session from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. New York time starting Dec. 6, alongside regular and extended hours. The move aims to capture growing foreign investor demand and compete with crypto and prediction markets. Overnight trading, now about 1% of equity volume, surged 358% year-on-year, though skeptics warn of thinner liquidity and wider spreads.
