Congress on Friday appointed former Olympian and Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president, replacing Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. The change follows Warring's resignation after meeting Rahul Gandhi, and comes ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections amid factional differences. Singh, a former Indian hockey captain, has served as Punjab's Sports and Education Minister.
