Ethiopian forces retake Mekelle airport as Tigray rebels withdraw

Ethiopia's federal army and allied fighters have recaptured Alula Aba Nega Airport in Mekelle, the Tigray regional capital, with TPLF rebels and leaders seen leaving the city, according to unnamed sources and local residents. Federal forces had not yet entered Mekelle itself, raising fears of looting and lawlessness. The renewed conflict, now in its second week, has drawn in regional accusations involving Eritrea, Sudan and Egypt.
