Nicaragua to Withdraw from Central American Parliament

Nicaragua announced it will immediately withdraw from the Central American Parliament, a regional body promoting democracy and human rights. The move follows an OAS resolution urging Nicaragua to restore civil rights and release political prisoners. The Ortega-Murillo government called the exit an exercise of sovereignty, continuing its pattern of leaving international organizations critical of its human rights record.
