Smriti Mandhana has been appointed captain of the Indian women's cricket team, succeeding Harmanpreet Kaur, the BCCI announced on October 6. Mandhana, India's long-time deputy who has led in 18 T20Is and four ODIs, takes charge of the white-ball side. Her first assignment is a six-match home series against Zimbabwe starting October 16.
