Tuareg rebels have withdrawn from the strategic northern Mali town of Kidal after sustained air strikes by Malian forces and Russian allies. The Azawad Liberation Front called it a temporary, controlled retreat to preserve its forces. Mali's military said it launched large-scale operations to neutralize armed groups. Pro-government fighters, including Russian paramilitaries, re-entered Kidal on Tuesday.
