Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched Surya, India's first indigenously built fleet support ship, at Hindustan Shipyard Limited in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. He also laid the keel for the fifth ship in the series and inaugurated an upgraded slipway and a 300-tonne crane. The 43,500-tonne vessels will refuel and resupply warships at sea, extending the Navy's reach across the Indian Ocean.
