Political economist Parakala Prabhakar has sharply criticised India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging mass deletions disproportionately target Muslims, Christians, Dalits, Adivasis and the poor. He cited figures including 2.89 crore deletions in Uttar Pradesh, 96 lakh in Tamil Nadu and 93 lakh in West Bengal, warning the total could reach 14 crore once pending states are completed.
