South Korea to Review Military Exemption for Athletes

South Korea's sports minister said the military service exemption for gold-medal-winning athletes will be reviewed after controversial comments by Asian Games footballers sparked public backlash. The defence ministry also plans to cut or scrap the supplementary service. Since 1973, Olympic and Asian Games gold medallists have replaced full service with three weeks of basic training.
