IIT-Bombay has put its July 2026 academic misconduct rules on hold and reverted to milder 2015 guidelines for mid-semester exams on October 10 and 11, following the suicide of second-year BTech student Sahil Wakode, who was allegedly caught copying. The interim procedure drops first-offence suspensions and airport-style frisking, letting students explain their side.
