India to Draft AI Rules After Public Consultation

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed that technology be democratised, citing AI's potential in agriculture, healthcare and education. A consultation paper on AI safety, cybersecurity and deepfake risks will be floated next month, with regulations to follow. MeitY is also building domestic AI capacity to protect strategic autonomy.
