US midterm campaigns have spent over $80m on more than 164 AI-generated ads, with Republicans behind 80 percent, according to the Wesleyan Media Project. The obviously fake "slopaganda" ads, including one featuring New York's Kathy Hochul and Zohran Mamdani, blur truth as 31 states require labelling but no federal law exists.
