India's NIA has registered a case under the Anti-Hijacking Act and UAPA to investigate the September 30 mid-air attack on Captain Smit Machchhar aboard flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The Omani first officer allegedly stabbed Machchhar in an attempt to hijack or crash the plane. Passengers and crew restrained the attacker, and the aircraft made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
