Eritrea asks UN to intervene in Ethiopia standoff

Eritrea has urged the UN Security Council to take deterrent measures after accusing Ethiopia of declaring war over Tigray, invoking Chapter VII of the UN Charter. The request follows Ethiopia's letter accusing Eritrea of an all-out invasion, with troops reportedly advancing 60 kilometres into Tigray. Both neighbours blame each other for starting the conflict as fears of wider war grow.
