Delhi Police detained thousands on Saturday as the Cockroach Janta Party's planned Jantar Mantar protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was blocked, scattering demonstrators across the capital. The CJP demands Kumar's resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Solidarity protests and detentions were also reported in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. Most detainees were later released.
