83% of Anxiety Sufferers in India Go Untreated

A national survey by NIMHANS found that 2.57% of Indian adults had an anxiety disorder, yet 83% received no treatment and nearly 60% experienced disability. Psychiatrists blame stigma and lack of awareness, noting that anxiety can be treated with therapy, medication, or both. The study was published in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry in 2022.
