The Chenab and Anji Khad rail bridges have completed the 272-km Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla link, connecting the Kashmir Valley to India's national railway network. The missing 111-km Banihal–Katra stretch through the Pir Panjal range was the final obstacle. Officials say the route now moves Kashmiri horticulture and handicrafts to markets like Delhi and Mumbai, while bringing essential goods into the Valley.
