I-T Department Detects Rs 25,000 Crore Tax Evasion by Restaurants

The income tax department has detected tax evasion by restaurants estimated at over Rs 25,000 crore, based on four years of Swiggy and Zomato data. About 8,000 restaurants with TDS entries failed to file returns, accounting for Rs 7,500 crore in evasion. Authorities plan a fresh compliance drive.
