A fire broke out before dawn on Sunday and totally destroyed the Marché des Enfants Rouges, Paris's oldest covered food market, in the Marais district. More than 150 firefighters battled the blaze, which did not spread to surrounding buildings. The 17th-century landmark, a popular street food venue, was listed as a historic monument in 1982.
