MI5 confirms Russia tried to interfere in Brexit vote

MI5 chief Ken McCallum confirmed Russia attempted to influence the 2016 Brexit referendum through RT and Sputnik broadcasts and fake social media accounts, but said the efforts were unsophisticated and had little impact on the result. He warned that prolonged debate over the interference hands the Kremlin a propaganda victory.
