Researchers have identified Gpr35, a receptor on sensory nerves that detects EKODE, a linoleic acid byproduct found at high levels in psoriasis skin. Blocking the receptor reduced scratching and skin thickening in mice, and eased itch in eczema-like skin. The findings, published in Communications Biology, suggest GPR35 as a therapeutic target for both autoimmune and allergic itch.
