German politician Hubert Aiwanger found dead in Berlin hotel

Hubert Aiwanger, 55, Bavaria's deputy leader and head of the populist Free Voters party, was found dead in his Berlin-Mitte hotel room on Wednesday. Police and prosecutors have opened an investigation into the cause and circumstances. Bavarian premier Markus Soeder called the death an "absolute tragedy." Aiwanger, also Bavarian economy minister, had missed a party office opening after feeling unwell.
