Abdul El-Sayed becomes first Muslim elected to US Senate

Abdul El-Sayed has won a US Senate seat, becoming the first Muslim to enter the chamber, a victory celebrated by his wife's family in Kozhikode. Relatives said he prevailed through a hard-fought, grassroots-funded campaign despite criticism over his stance on Palestine. His wife, Sarah Jukaku, is the niece of Kozhikode businessman Jukaku Abdul Majeed.
