Japan's Nikkei 225 fell as much as 7.1% to 56,745.81 on Friday, breaking below the 60,000 level and slipping 20% from its June peak to enter a technical bear market. The broader Topix dropped 6.4%, while tech-heavy indexes in South Korea and Taiwan also fell sharply as investors unwound artificial intelligence trades.
