Houston Limits Police Cooperation With Federal Immigration Authorities

Houston Mayor John Whitmire said the city will refer only immigrants who pose a danger to ICE, calling it a new model of enforcement after Democrats won Texas. Police will contact ICE only for jailable arrests or administrative warrants, not nonviolent offenses. The move follows a fatal ICE vehicle incident and Greg Abbott's loss to Gina Hinojosa.
