Sudan's civil war, poverty and climate change are fuelling severe child malnutrition, with the IPC estimating 825,000 under-fives will suffer severe acute malnutrition in 2026, up 7 percent on 2025. UNICEF and partners treated 174,700 such children nationwide in the first half of this year, while hospitals in Port Sudan report overcrowded wards and rising admissions.
