Car crash survivor, 57, sets 285kg deadlift world record

Liam Beville, left with catastrophic leg injuries when a stolen car struck him in Limerick in 1983, has set a Guinness World Record for the heaviest deadlift by a male athlete in the MP4 impairment classification. At 57, he lifted 285kg at the IrishPO National Single Lift Championships in February 2022, competing against able-bodied athletes. His recovery and record now feature in an autobiography.
