UNESCO has placed six sites in the occupied West Bank and Lebanon on its endangered World Heritage list, despite Israeli objections. The emergency listings, approved at a meeting in Busan, South Korea, include the biblical archaeological site of Sebastia in the West Bank and five castles in southern Lebanon, one recently seized by Israeli forces. The decision cites the toll of ongoing conflicts in the region.
