India on Friday dismissed Pakistani media reports accusing it of deliberately causing floods in Pakistan, calling the claims baseless. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal attributed the recent rise in Chenab river flows to intense monsoon rainfall over Jammu and adjoining areas between July 20–23, 2026. He noted that Pakistan's own Flood Forecasting Division linked the high flows to heavy rainfall, contradicting allegations of upstream intervention. The floods have killed at least 37 people in Pakistan.
