South Korea's overnight deliveries blamed for worker deaths

The death of Jang Deok-jun, a 27-year-old warehouse worker for Coupang, from a heart attack linked to overwork has intensified scrutiny of South Korea's overnight delivery industry. Between 2020 and May 2026, 46 warehouse and delivery workers died of work-related strokes or heart disease. While the union calls for a ban on night deliveries, many drivers prefer the higher pay, highlighting the human cost of the country's ultra-convenient service.
