Decoded 200-year-old Gujarati scroll reveals ancient Indian navigation

Researchers at the University of Exeter have decoded a centuries-old Gujarati navigational scroll, revealing that Indian Ocean sailors used a sophisticated system of stars, landmarks, and memory to navigate the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The scroll, created by Kachchhi seafarers in the late 18th or early 19th century, was found in Britain's Royal Geographical Society archives.
