AP Health Minister orders strict biomedical waste management in hospitals

Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav has ordered strict compliance with biomedical waste and sewage treatment norms in all government hospitals. Reviewing gaps in implementation, he noted government teaching hospitals generate about 1.3 million kg of biomedical waste annually. He instructed hospitals to use color-coded bags, CCTV surveillance, and barcode tracking for waste disposal. To address sewage treatment deficiencies, STPs will be established in 80 hospitals at a cost of Rs 83 crore. A pilot visitor management system to reduce crowding will start in three teaching hospitals.
