Mirabai Chanu wins third straight CWG gold, first for India in 2026

Mirabai Chanu secured India's first gold medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning her third consecutive title in women's 48kg weightlifting with a total lift of 190kg (85kg snatch, 105kg clean and jerk). She broke Games records despite a shaky start, failing her first snatch and clean and jerk attempts before rebounding. Nigeria's Ruth Asuquo Nyong took silver with 168kg, while Malaysia's Irene Jane Henry won bronze with 167kg.
