Muthupandi wins silver as India shines in weightlifting at CWG 2026

Raja Muthupandi won silver in men's 65kg weightlifting at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, lifting a total of 286kg (126kg snatch, 160kg clean and jerk). Malaysia's Aznil Bidin set a Games record (299kg) for gold, while Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru took bronze (282kg). The medal, India's fourth overall and third in weightlifting, followed Mirabai Chanu's gold and Rishikanta Singh's silver earlier in the day. Muthupandi, 26, overcame a career-threatening elbow injury in 2019 to secure the podium finish.
