Indonesia central bank chief Perry Warjiyo resigns

Indonesia's central bank governor Perry Warjiyo stepped down on Monday in a surprise move that analysts say could unsettle investors worried about the central bank's independence and fiscal management. President Prabowo Subianto accepted the resignation, effective immediately, with senior deputy governor Destry Damayanti serving as interim. Warjiyo began his second term in 2023. The rupiah weakened and stocks were choppy following the announcement.
