Mirabai Chanu wins third consecutive CWG gold

Mirabai Chanu claimed her third straight Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg weightlifting event in Glasgow on Sunday, lifting a record 190kg total to secure India's first gold of the 2026 Games. The Olympic silver medallist overcame early stumbles in both snatch and clean and jerk, finishing 22kg ahead of Nigeria's Ruth Asuquo Nyong. Rishikanta Singh added a silver in men's 60kg, taking India's tally to one gold, two silver, and one bronze.
