Germany approved nearly 800 million euros ($913m) in arms export licences to Israel in the first five months of 2026, more than in the previous 20 months combined. The government confirmed that over 60% of the value is for a single major maritime project, widely believed to be a submarine built by TKMS. The nuclear-capable Dolphin II-class submarine INS Drakon was handed over to the Israeli Navy last week. The surge comes despite German concerns over Israel's military actions in Gaza.
