Wildfires force 325,000 evacuations in France and Spain

Wildfires raging across southwestern Europe have forced more than 325,000 people to evacuate in France and Spain, with some of the worst blazes in France since World War II. Record heatwaves have fueled the fires, which have burned over 115,000 hectares in France and 119,458 hectares in Spain as of July 22. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez declared a national emergency as fires threaten Madrid and other regions. Authorities have deployed thousands of firefighters, but many blazes remain out of control.
