Researchers at North Carolina State University have developed a wearable patch that detects environmental hazards like dangerous gases and heavy metals, alerting wearers with distinct haptic vibrations. The solar-powered device, detailed in Device journal, offers up to 24 hours of battery life. It can also be integrated into robots as e-skin, enabling hazard avoidance.
