Cairngorms wildfire leaves landscape 'unrecognisable'

Twelve days after a massive wildfire broke out in the Cairngorms national park, large areas remain ablaze, leaving swathes of the landscape blackened and unrecognisable. Officials say it is the park's worst blaze, with damage that could take decades to repair. Firebreaks saved most of the ancient Caledonian pine forest, but rare habitats have been lost. The fire, which led to the evacuation of Nethy Bridge, is no longer being treated as a major incident.
