Bihar withdraws cases against student protesters, orders release

The Bihar government announced Monday it will withdraw all cases registered against student protesters before 6 pm on July 26 and immediately release all those arrested. The decision follows widespread demonstrations over the NEET paper leak and in support of the Cockroach Janta Party's demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. Police had detained 694 people during a July 25 bandh, with 355 remanded to custody. Violence left 91 police and 13 civilians injured, and an AK-47 firing incident in Siwan sparked political controversy.
