HIV resurgence risk as funding drops 18%: UNAIDS

Global funding for HIV fell 18% to $7.3 billion in 2025, the lowest in nearly two decades, risking a resurgence of the epidemic, UNAIDS warned Monday. The U.S., previously accounting for 75% of international funding, curtailed prevention efforts after President Trump's temporary halt. Domestic spending partly offset cuts, but the 2030 target to end the public health threat is faltering.
